Home/Small mammals/Rabbit breeds

Rabbit breeds, honestly.

There's a rabbit for every home - if you understand what a rabbit actually is. These are 15 breed profiles covering temperament, housing, grooming and health, from tiny dwarfs to gentle giants. New to rabbits entirely? Start with the rabbit-keeping basics.

๐Ÿ‡ The one thing to know first: rabbits are intelligent, social prey animals that live 8-12 years, need far more space than a hutch (plus daily free-run), usually do best bonded with another rabbit, and dislike being picked up. They are not low-effort and rarely ideal for very young children. Please consider adopting - rescues are full of them.

Adopt before you shop

Rabbits are the third most-abandoned pet, and shelters overflow with wonderful ones of every breed - often already neutered and past the chewing-everything phase. See our adoption page before buying, and skip anyone selling "teacup" or "micro" rabbits (there's no such thing).
