Dwarf & small breeds, honestly.

Dwarf and small breeds are rabbits that mature at roughly 0.5-2 kg: the Netherland Dwarf, Holland Lop, Mini Rex, Lionhead, Dwarf Hotot and Polish. Their size makes them the default choice for apartments, but small does not mean easy. Compact rabbits are often the most energetic and opinionated of the species, and several - the Netherland Dwarf especially - are known for being skittish and quick to nip when handled roughly. The trade-off to plan for is health: extreme dwarfism brings shortened skulls, so dental malocclusion and tear-duct problems show up here more than in mid-sized rabbits. They suit quiet, patient adults who want a rabbit to interact with at floor level, not a pet that tolerates constant carrying.
