The Super Snow is a striking white-to-silver leopard gecko covered in crisp black spots, best known for its solid dark, almost all-black eyes. It is the "super" (double-copy) expression of the popular Mack Snow line and is a common sight in the hobby. It is a colour and pattern morph of the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius).
What it is
A Super Snow is a leopard gecko whose warm yellow tones have been almost entirely stripped away, leaving a cool white, silver or pale grey base broken up by bold black spotting and, as a hatchling, dark banding. Compared with a normal wild-type gecko, which is yellow to tan with brown-black markings and normal patterned eyes, the Super Snow reads as high-contrast black-and-white with distinctive fully dark eyes.
The genetics
Super Snow is a super (homozygous) form, meaning the animal carries two copies of the Mack Snow gene. Mack Snow itself is inherited in an incomplete-dominant fashion. In the hobby this is usually called "co-dominant" or "co-dom," but technically it is incomplete-dominant: one copy produces the visibly different Mack Snow, and two copies produce the more extreme Super Snow rather than simply masking or blending. This is different from a recessive trait (which shows only with two copies and can hide invisibly as a "het") and from a simple dominant (where one and two copies look the same).
Appearance
Super Snows hatch nearly black and white, with dark bands over a stark white ground and very little to no yellow. As the gecko matures, the bands break up into the spotted pattern typical of leopard geckos, and the base settles into white, silver or pale grey with black spots. The signature feature is the eyes: instead of the normal patterned, pale iris, a Super Snow has solid dark, near-black eyes. Some yellow can creep in around the head and tail with age, but the overall impression stays cool and high-contrast.
How it is bred
Because Super Snow is the double-copy form of an incomplete-dominant gene, an animal needs two copies to show it. A single copy shows as a normal Mack Snow, so pairing two Mack Snows can produce Super Snow offspring alongside single-copy Mack Snows and normals. Pairing a Super Snow to anything will pass one Mack Snow copy to every offspring, since the Super carries only Mack Snow copies. Super Snow is also frequently used as a base to stack with other genes, creating combos such as snow-based designer morphs.
Cost and availability
Mack Snow is one of the most widespread genes in leopard geckos, and Super Snow is produced readily, so it is generally affordable and easy to find. A plain Super Snow usually sits in the entry to mid price range, a little above a single-copy Mack Snow. Prices climb when Super Snow is combined with other sought-after morphs.
Health and ethics
The Super Snow itself carries no special health problem. It is a fully viable, healthy super form, unlike some "super" genes in other species that can be lethal or non-viable in the double-copy state, and it is not linked to any neurological or balance disorder. Standard leopard gecko care and normal attention to genetics are all that is needed. As always, choose reputable breeders who track lineage, and see a reptile (herp) veterinarian for any health concern.

Care is identical to that of a standard leopard gecko. The morph changes only how the animal looks, not what it needs in terms of heat, diet, humidity or housing.
