Doodles are crosses between a Poodle and another breed - Labrador, Golden, Cocker, Bernese and a dozen more - bred on the hope of a Poodle brain in a lower-shedding coat. Sometimes that is exactly what you get. Just as often a litter splits: one puppy sheds like its non-Poodle parent, another carries the full curly coat that mats into felt without brushing every other day and professional grooming every six to eight weeks for life. That grooming bill is the trade-off nobody mentions at the deposit stage. Doodles suit active households that want a trainable, people-focused dog and can budget real time and money for coat care - not anyone shopping purely for "hypoallergenic", because no breeder can promise that.
